Officially Recongized CelebrationsLike any religion in the world today, RoF has its day of celebrations and remembrances. While followers are free to celebrate ANY holiday and celebrations, since they are usually always fun, these are the officially recognized holidays of RoF. Winter-een-mas: While not an original concept from RoF, we do recongize it has a holiday that should be practiced and honored. For more information on WEM, please visit its official site. RoF New Year: Celebrated on February 2nd to memorialize the beginning of the website. Like most New Year celebrations, this is a day of party and celebration with friends and family. Halloween-mas: Halloween-mas is a three day celebration spanning Oct. 31st - Nov. 2nd. The holiday is an appreciation of a summer of good crops and the welcoming of winter. All three days are filled with costumes, food and celebrations. The first day is in honor of gathering. This is the day that children put of costumes and participate in an activity known as Trick-or-Treating. This involves walking through their neighborhood, knocking on doors and saying "Trick or Treat", which then is rewarded with candy from the homeowner. The second day of Halloween-mas is to honor those that have left this world for the year. It is not a gloomy day, but a happy day filled with many parties and celebrations in the honor of those that have returned to the earth. The third and final day of Halloween-mas is to honor the harvest of the year with a big feast share with friends and family. As a side note: please remember the teaching of the Gospel of Good and the Etiquettes when participating in your activities. X-mas: Celebrated of Decemember 25th, this is a holiday to help bring together and appreciate friends and family. Family and friends gather to share food and gifts with each other and inbrace the relationships that they have with one another. Leprechaun Day: A day to celebrate Irish culture. It is a day of good luck and joyous celebration. It is celebrated on March 17th. Activities include visibly wearing something green or risk being pinched. Learning of Irish culture and history. Listening and dancing to Irish folk music. Throwing and/or going to parties. Eating traditional Irish cuisine like corn beef and hash. Also, it is an excuse to get drunk and look for leprechauns. Rumor has it that the right amount of drunk will make the little guys appear. It is somewhere between functional and blackout drunk. It is also rumored that drinking Irish drinks helps the process ie, whiskey, Guiness and Bailey's Irish cream etc. Once you catch one, try to have the leprechaun share his gold with you, but be careful, they are crafty little tricksters and will embarrass you with a quick. |
