The Gospel of Fun The reason why we are all here, to have fun!!! Life is a party, enjoy it. Our time on this planet is way too short to not be enjoying ourselves. But what is fun? The purpose of this gospel is to the layout the guidelines as to what is fun and how to find that fun. If one is to follow this gospel, they should be able to live life with a smile on their face. Chapter 1 - Let's have some Fun Fun is that wonderful feeling we all get when we do some thing that we truly enjoy. Every person's perception of fun differs, but whatever your idea of fun is, you should pursue it. The basis of determining what is consider fun is simple. Fun is what brings you amusement or pleasure without negatively affecting someone else without their permission. Fun can be found almost anywhere. Also, everyone has their own sense of fun. Some people like to bike ride, while others like to play video games. It is the goal of every member of RoF to search out what they find enjoyable and be able to do it without negatively affecting someone else. But what does "without negatively affecting someone else" mean? It is simple. Some activities people find enjoyable may affect someone in a bad way and rob them of their fun. This is a major no-no. However, there is a ways around this. Lets look at some examples: Lets take a look at fighting. Some people like to fight. They are of a warrior breed. It's in their blood. So with that in mind, it would be wrong for RoF to say that they can't do what they are passionate about, but it may break the cardinal rule. If two warriors come together and are in agreement with their pending fight (ie, an arrange UFC bout), then there is nothing wrong with them fighting. Both combatants have come together pursuing what they enjoy. Sure one will win and the other will lose, but they came together with the passion to fight and that is where their fun resides. However, going around like a two-bit hoodlum, picking on people who don't enjoy fighting is wrong and you should be reprimanded. Using your physical strength to bully and intimidate others goes against the teachings of RoF. Another borderline activity that some people may enjoy is demolition. Destroying and/or blowing things up is viewed by many to be a very enjoyable activity. If it is your own property or you have expressed permission from the owner of said property, then feel free to do what you want with it. However, going around defacing or destroying public property or the property of others without permission goes against the teachings of RoF and you should be reprimanded for such activities. Any time a member of RoF is found to have caused the destruction of anyone's property without permission (accidental or intentional), that member is required to repair or replace said property without hesitation. So, if it is going to bring harm (physical or mental), loss of property, or monetary loss to someone else, it should be avoided unless you can work it out to where both sides will not be affect in negative way. Chapter 2 - Possible Downside to Fun Is there such a thing as too much fun? Yes there is. While we all pursue fun, we must keep in mind our commitments and responsibilities. Trying to have too much fun can negatively affect ones life and the lives of the people close to them. Also, one can't fully appreciate fun without having to earn it first. Members of RoF should follow the motto, "Work hard, play harder." True fun and enlightenment is somewhere between working hard for your fun and enjoying your fun. The balance is slightly different for everyone but everyone should strive to find that balance. Don't work so hard that you can not enjoy life and find fun. Do not indulge in so much fun that you are unable to take care of yourself and the people that you need to care for (ie children). Having to be under the care of someone else puts a strain on them and makes it harder for them to enjoy their lives. Everyone should works towards their own independence so that they aren't impeding on the fun of someone else. The true goal in life is to do something that you find fun and are able to support yourself and family by doing it. Even if it isn't your perfect description of fun, one should look for work that they at least find some what enjoyable so it doesn't drain all of your energy. That way, you are able to leave your work at work and enjoy your life the way you want. If you are stuck in a job that you don't find the least bit enjoyable, but are unable to find another form of employment; keep trying to get out, but be thankful that you at least have a job. And no matter what, leave work at work and leave your personal life at home. Mixing the two can be dangerous for both. Just remember moderation. Moderation is key to being able to keep your life on the right path and having fun. If you do any one thing too much, it will throw your life out of balance. Working too many hours will throw your personal life off. Going to the bar too much will throw your professional and home life off. Being at home too much will throw your social life off. One must make moderating their life and their activities a constant goal in their life. If fun turns into an unhealthy addiction, seek help to get over that addiction since addictions will ruin your lives and possibly the lives of the people you love. Doing something for fun and doing something out of addiction is not one in the same. Addiction is the destroyer of fun. If addiction has a grip on you, remember there is always someone that cares for you and willing to help you conquer it, but in the end, it is you that has to victor of your addictions. Chapter 3 -The Search and Journey to Fun Sometimes fun is a hard thing to find. Sometimes it takes some planning and daring to find. Do not be afraid. If something seems impossible to accomplish, but accomplishing it would bring untold amounts of fun, go for it. Alot of times in life, a path to a goal may seem impossible or not even existent. In times like that, one most believe in themselves to move forward. Be confident in yourself and in your goals. Plan your path, set your goal, and with enough hard work and persistence, anything is possible. If you are having trouble plotting your course, seek assistance from friends, family or professionals. Sometimes it may seem that you need to take two steps back to take one step forward, but if you keep your goal in your mind and your priorities straight, those two steps back may be the launching pad you need to push further than you ever imagined. Be sure to always believe in yourself and in your dreams. Someone who believes in themselves can never be stopped.
