The day finally came!  I'd been looking forward to this since I first saw the posters everywhere on my hike.  Not as many people as I thought might have shown up, but it turns out most of the people had gotten in line to walk it as soon as they got there...the line was behind me... Luckily for you The Wexican has not yet approved Video, I had to sit an shiver through the chanting and the long speeches which may or may not have included " the Guyjin BBQ will begin in 10 minutes" hey!  Just things that go through your head while listening to foreign languages.  I lucked out though and was not eaten.  Though i did get laughed at by an elderly couple behind me when i was adjusting my backpack to sit on, then being the polite guy I am I remained in the sitting position so I did not obstruct their view (I think if they stood on eachother's shoulders they might have managed to look me in the eye)  cold, cramped, and managing both a camera and my pocket camcorder I watched the rest of the ceremony in silence until I saw the first monks scamper accross the still steaming coals. THAT'S when I got my frigid cramped butt in the super long line.  The coals were still nice and warm when I crossed them, though I bet they had already lost most of their heat, but since the last 30 ft of the line was walked barefoot, I was just glad there was something to warm my toes!  I recommend to anyone, if you have the chance to go fire walking, DO IT!  It's fun, and you can meet many more completely insane people :)
